Solana's price history is a story of rapid technological adoption and volatile market cycles. Founded by Anatoly Yakovenko, who started development in 2017, Solana launched publicly in March 2020. The initial token price during the seed sale in April 2018 was just $0.04, making the eventual all-time high a 7,300x return for early investors.

The 2021 bull run was fueled by Solana's technical advantages: sub-second finality, transaction costs of fractions of a cent, and 65,000 transactions per second capacity. Projects including Serum, Raydium, and major NFT marketplaces chose Solana as their home chain. The price surged from under $2 in January 2021 to $260 by November 2021.

After the 2022 crypto winter and the FTX crisis in November 2022, SOL fell to $8.13. The recovery was gradual through 2023, accelerating into 2024 as Solana's ecosystem — including meme coins on Pump.fun, Jupiter DeFi aggregator, and tokenized assets — drove renewed demand. By January 2025, SOL hit a new ATH of $293.31.
